FIRE STOPPING

Fire stopping, also known as compartmentation, is a fundamental part of passive fire protection. It refers to the process of filling openings and joints between walls and floors with fire-resistant material, deterring the spread of fire between ‘compartments’ within a building.

The pivotal rule of fire stopping to penetrations and linear joint seals is ensuring a tested and certified method is being used to ensure the installed components in the particular configuration will work simultaneously together along with the building make up type and the penetration or joint it is passing through. RWS Contracts work very closely with our suppliers and manufacturers to ensure all installs are to a certified and tested detail and seek advise from our trusted partners and clients where installs aren’t as simple or require further investigation for a technical assessment from the manufacturer.

Working with our long standing clients and new clients we ensure we engage on projects from the very beginning to ensure collaboration and integration with other trades to ensure all installers are aware of how they should install to allow a compliant install around their installed services, check for any nonstandard requirements where a manufacturer visit may be required to suggest a technical assessment detailed install and to ensure critical programme install dates so our works are not compromised by poor access.

Our main partner/supplier is Protecta who are market leaders in passive fire protection and have an excellent technical team always on hand for any urgent technical requirements or site visits. We also work very closely with Hilti, Rockwool, Nullifier and FIS.
